Wax Sealing
Today, I would like to discuss a very old-fashioned way of sealing packages and letters: wax seals.
To make proper wax seals, you will need to buy special sealing wax. For about $15 on Amazon you can buy a wax melting spoon, 3 sticks of wax, 2 tea lights, and a metal wax stamp. This kit here should get you started -> Wax Sealing Kit
- You can use saint medals to make Catholic wax seals, however, all the seals will come out inverted.
- You can have wax stamps custom made. (In the future I want to have a Sacred Heart wax stamp created).
- I prefer wax beads instead of wax sticks. You can buy some here -> Wax Beads
Here is a brief run-through of the wax sealing process.
- Place 2 or 3 wax beads in your wax sealing spoon.
- Heat the wax over a tea light. Make sure the spoon is not too close to the flame and make sure the wax does not burn.
- When the wax is runny, pour it on your envelope and press with a stamp.
- Leave the stamp in the wax until the wax is almost dry.
- Remove the stamp.
