Table Etiquette

Food Guide

Bread

In the United States, it is common to butter your slice of bread, pick it up, take a bite, and place it back on your plate. In other countries, however, it is common to break off a small piece of bread, butter it, and eat it.

Passing Food

If food is served family style, then pass each dish of food counterclockwise. If somebody else at the table requests a dish, pass it counterclockwise to them. If they are directly on your left, however, you may pass the food left to them.

Drink

Always wipe your mouth before drinking, as nothing is more ill-bred than to grease your glass with your lips.
