How To Make A Paracord Rosary

Tired of rosaries that break? Then this is just the Rosary for you. Paracord rosaries are suited for every young man, wether he be an outdoors man or not. It is very easy to construct your own rosary. The only materials necessary are beads, paracord, and a crucifix. The best part is that it takes no more than 1 1/2 hours to finish.

Makes two paracord rosaries.

  • Gather: 15 feet of black paracord (Link Below)
  • Gather: 100 plastic beads (Link Below)
  • Gather: 18 gunmetal beads (Link Below)
  • Gather: 2 large crucifixes (Link Below)
  • Gather: monkey rings or connectors (They will be used to attach the crucifix)
  • Gather: a pocket knife
  • Gather: a lighter or wood-burner

Divide the beads and crucifixes in half. Cut the paracord in eight feet sections and burn the ends to prevent fraying. You will use each eight-foot section of paracord for each rosary.

Find the middle of the eight foot paracord.
Attach the crucifix to a connector ring and put it in the middle of the paracord.
Tie a triangle lanyard knot after the crucifix. (See Link Below)
Thread on one gunmetal bead on the paracord. The first five beads are threaded on double paracord. You will need to thread the strands of paracord through the bead one at a time. Twist and push while you thread the second strand through. Finally, wrap the paracord around you finger as shown.
Wrap the paracord back around your finger to make an X.
Wrap the paracord as you did in the previous step. Pull the working end through the three loops that are wrapped around your finger.
Slide the knot off your finger and bring it together.
This should be what the finished result looks like.
String three more gunmetal beads on the rosary and tie a knot that is identical to the one you tied in the previous step.
String on another gunmetal bead and tie another triangle lanyard knot.
Leave a a small bit of space and then tie a simple knot on each strand of paracord.
Next, string ten plasitc bead on each strand of paracord.
After ten beads have been strung on both strands of the paracord. Tie two knots like the ones in the previous steps. However, there will not be a second strand to thread through each knot. Add two more gunmetal beads and then tie two more knots.
Continue adding decades until you have only one knot left to tie.
Tie the final knot and thread the other strand of the paracord through (This knot step is similar to the second knot). Finally, draw the knot together.
Use a pocket knife and lighter or wood burner to remove the excess paracord. Make sure the paracord strands in the final knot are melted together.
Have your new paracord rosary blessed and enjoy praying with it.
